Out with the old and on with the new. Those holiday cards lying around the house can now be recycled.

The Holiday Greeting Card Recycling and Waste Reduction program was started in January 1994 by the Metro-Dade Department of Solid Waste Management and the Arise Foundation, a local environmental organization, which works in conjunction with the Dade County Public Schools and area businesses. Last year, 50,000 cards were recycled for the 1994 holiday season by clients of the Easter Seal Society, Fellowship House and Jewish Vocational Services.
