RECYCLE YOUR GREETING CARDS FOR NEXT HOLIDAYS Herald Staff, The Miami Herald, 12/21/1995 |
If you thought holiday’s greetings seemed recycled from year to year, you're right -- literally.
Dade County's Recycling Management Committee and the Environmental Advisory Task Force are collecting holiday greeting cards for its Superintendent's Scholarship Fund and Arise Foundation's Enviro-Cops and Mentors Program. The cards will be sorted, cut, reassembled and packaged by incarcerated youths at Metro-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitations facilities, and then sold for a nominal donation to benefit the fund.
Through Jan. 31, residents participating in the Metro-Dade solid waste department's curb-side recycling program can bag cards and place them in the bins; or take the cards to any Metro-Dade Police station, Fire-Rescue station, public library, Dade County public school, Metrorail station or Team Metro regional center.
