JUPITER, FL – From June 25th through June 29th ARISE Foundation will be conducting its five-day ARISE Master Life Skills Instructor Workshop for people working to empower at-risk youth. Participants have come from Palm Beach County as well as from all across the country and Canada. The training will take place at the ARISE headquarters in Jupiter, FL, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for all five days of training.
This training is designed to prepare individuals working with disadvantaged, at-risk youth to implement the ARISE Life-Skills Program at their specific organizations. After completing the five intensive days of training, each participant will be certified to teach ARISE Life-Skills Lessons to youth and to train staff at their organizations on how to reach at-risk youth in their care. ARISE life skills have been particularly effective in changing the lives of those who have been recruited into gangs and/or have been thrown into the juvenile justice system.
Training Synopsis
Day One: ARISE Life-Skills Instructor Certification
• Learn proven group management techniques
• Apply ARISE’s unique interactive teaching formula
• Techniques for developing structured, interactive group discussions
• Teach mock life-skills lessons using the unique ARISE instruction methods
Day Two: Teach an ARISE Life-Skills Lesson at an Alternative School Run by the Department of Juvenile Justice
• Plan a lesson you will teach in an actual classroom
• Discussion and Suggestions related to this teaching experience
• Constructive input of each person’s control of the class
Day Three: Setting the Foundation for Your Training
• Conducting ice breakers
• Setting ground rules
• Creating group expectations
• Techniques for maintaining control
• Introducing topics and transitions
• Establishing a sense of belonging
Day Four: Master the Skills to Lead Discussions and Interactive Activities
• Controlling negative responses
• Planning activities
• Conducting stimulating discussion
• Reaching those who refuse to participate
• Dividing groups effectively
Day Five: Commencement Luncheon
• Conduct a mock training session
• Monitoring and evaluating the ARISE program at your agency
• Presentation of ARISE Trainer certifications at the celebratory luncheon
• Questions and answers with Edmund and Susan Benson, the ARISE Founders
